Why Xian, China?
Xian, formerly known as Changan, is the capital of Shaanxi Province, an important scientific research, education and industry base in China. Xian has a long history, with 3100 years of city building and 1100 years of capital. It is one of Four Great Ancient Capitals with Athens, Rome, and Cairo. Xian lies on the Guanzhong Plain in the south-central part of Shaanxi province. With a total area of 10,096.81 square kilometers, the city borders the northern foot of the Qin Mountains (Qinling) to the south, and the banks of the Wei River to the north. Recent data shows under the jurisdiction of 11 districts and 2 counties, Xian has a population of 8.8 million with an urban population of over 6.3 million. Xian is one of the best tourist destinations in China and one of the national civilized cities. In 1981, Xian was named as Historical City by UNESO (United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization) and one of Top 10 Most Historical Cities by America Live Science magazine in 2006.
Shaanxi's population numbered over 38 million and the GDP was RMB 1.9 trillion in 2016, with a year-on-year growth of 7.6%. The GDP per capita was RMB 50,395, with a year-on year growth of 7.0%. Nowadays, the number of furniture enterprises in Shaanxi was 3,000, mainly in Xian. In the first half of 2017, the total profit of the furniture manufacturing industry was around RMB 5.024 billion, accounting for nearly 40% of the total profits of the trade provincial enterprises above the designated level, with year-on-year increase of 18%. The provincial sales area of furniture and building materials has reached 5 million square meters. As the transportation hub of Shaanxi, and the economic, cultural and commercial center of The Silk Road Economic Belt, Xian holds the International Furniture Fair every year in October, becoming the well-known annual industry event.
